In two radically different but equally intimate settings, these films explore the tension between escape and confrontation. Through fatherhood, manhood, and isolation, they unravel layers of purpose and masculinity, asking what it means to be seen, to belong, and to truly face oneself.

Mamadou Yattassaye’s “Vis-à-Vis” follows a first-generation Malian son and his immigrant father when they become trapped in an elevator—leading to a confrontation of their West African identity in America.

Zach Schy’s “Make No Change” portrays a reclusive genius who escapes into a simulated utopia of his own design, but when the program malfunctions, he must accept the painful truths he tried to erase or surrender his physical body forever.
