About me
Mamadou Yattassaye is a 25 year old filmmaker, indie/soul songwriter, and poet from Harlem,
New York. A first-generation Malian, his creative work illuminates the dynamic interiority of African
stories, examining the nuanced disparities amongst first-generation Africans, African immigrants, and
Black Americans. Through film, song, and the written word, Mamadou voyages the blurred waltz of
the African soul in lineage, faith, fragmentation, spectacle, surveillance, and coming of age.Mamadou
